DAY 4 OF MY WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAMME

Slimmers’ Programme

**Do not forget to drink your slimmers’ drink and tea, which I talked about on day 1  and 2 (May 27 & 28)

Food 

As I said earlier, you do not have to adjust your food drastically. Just reduce the fats, salt and sugar intake. Remember that your food reduction happens naturally. O n DAY 4, you are likely to feel very full after eating your usual food dinner portions. Thus, on DAY 5, I want you to prepare the same amounts of food that you eat daily. If you felt a little uncomfortable on DAY 4 after eating your dinner, I would like you to reduce your usual food amount by one eighth (1/8). If you continue feeling too full on Day 6, reduce your food by another 1/8. Otherwise, you must not reduce your food portions urgently, and never make drastic (large) changes because weight loss from such adjustments is temporal.

Time

If you noticed, so far I have not told you how much time you need to spend on your jumping exercise. I talked only about the counts you have to do as a beginner, and the sessions (morning and evening). Yet, I did not  tell exactly how much time you have to spend on jumping in each single session. The main reason being that you must first develop the interest in jumping, and afterwards you must learn timing yourself. The focus is not on time, but on your ability to jump. Assuming that you have been jumping at least twice in a day (morning and evening), it is time for you to monitor the amount of time you spend on jumping 250 times. So, mark your start and end time, for example from 07:30 to 07: 55 hours. This becomes your baseline time up on which you will measure your improvement. The secret is not to put pressure on yourself by setting time goals, which you cannot manage. When you master the skill of jumping, timing comes easily. The reason you have decided to lose weight must always encourage you to exercise alone without someone pushing you to do so. If you can not manage, start a blog, it will help you commit to your blog members. They might encourage when you seem to lose focus…enjoy your weight loss programme…

DAY 4 for me

As  usual after drinking my slimmers’ drink, I stretched from 07: 00-07:10 hours (10mins)

My morning session: I jumped 1000 counts from 07: 29-07:46 hours (about 17mins)

My evening session: I jumped 550 counts from 17:46- 17:56 hours (about 10mins)

NB: Remember that you only need 250-500 jumps per day if you are a beginner. I am doing more simply because I am researching on the possibility of increasing the jumps, and the impact  on the slimming programme…

DAY 3 OF MY WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAMME

Positive Changes of Slimming Programme:

On day three, some noticeable changes will occur within your body after jumping, and drinking slimmers’ tea and slimmers’ drink. These changes include the following:

  1. You will feel happy, calm, excited, etc
  2. You will go to the toilet very easily in the morning, afternoon, and probably evening
  3. You will begin to feel sleepy mostly between 19:00-20:00 hours, that is when you do your exercises in the morning between 08:00 and 10:00 hours
  4. Your facial skin will begin glowing, and the skin all over your body will feel soft

Update on my personal exercise:

I did one thousand and nineteen (1019) jumps in this morning. I’m excited to do this with ease. I did also two hundred and sixty-nine (269) counts in this evening. It is great to have a potential to jump more than I thought. Yet, beginners must stick between 250 and 500 counts that I talked about yesterday. You would still lose weight. Remember to jump 50 counts at least 2 minutes before your main meal in the afternoon and/or evening. I exceed this limit (250-500) because I am researching on the impact of 1000 counts per day on weight loss…

DAY 2: YES, YOU MUST JUMP, BUT DON’T SKIP

The Final Step to Weight Loss:

I promised you that I would give you my last secret to losing weight. I have already talked about drinking the slimmers’ drink and slimmers’ tea, and having enough sleep. Please, re-read those pages. Now, today, I am showing you how to boost your metabolism, which is cardinal to losing weight.

Boosting Metabolism:

  • Jump

It is very simple to boost your metabolism. You do not need much money or weight-loss medicine. You will need to jump over a rope. Buy yourself a jumping rope like the one I am having around my neck in the picture below.It is that cheap and simple. I have a trojan bicycle, but I no longer use it, because I  know now that the secret lies in a jumping rope.

  • Don’t Skip

I said that you must jump, but do not skip. It is also for this reason that I use the words jumping rope instead of skipping rope because I want you to jump over the rope instead of skipping. There is a difference between jumping and skipping. The verb to jump means to leap with both feet into the air at the same time (See picture below). But, the verb to skip means to leap into the air with one foot up while the other foot is still on the floor (See unpublished work of Muponisi, 2012). Jumping gives you more heart rate than skipping. That is how you lose weight.

  • Start Gradually
  1. If you have never jumped over a rope before (lamely put skipping), you must start by jumping without using a rope. Jump while imaging that you are passing a rope over your head and below your feet.
  2. On the first day, you will jump non-stop at least 50 times. This is known as a jumping session. A session is when you jump continuously without resting or stopping. Thus, 50 counts per session is enough for a beginner on day 1.
  3. You have to increase the session by 25 jumps each day.  For example, on the second day, you would have jumped at least 75 times in a single session. If it is not possible, stick to 50  counts per session until you are ready to move to 75 counts. You have to continue increasing the counts until you begin to jump 150-200 times per session.
  4. I jump Monday to Friday, and I did nothing during the weekends
  5. I made sure that the jumping became part of my daily routine to do other chores like bathing, eating, going to school, etc. I fused it well into my daily activities so that it did not stress me out.
  6. I made sure that I did not jump when I did not feel like doing so.
  7. My secret to weight loss involved  jumping 50 counts, 2 minutes before eating my main meal (dinner). This did not prevent me from going out. I simply sneaked into the ladies’ room, chose a toilet at the end of the row, and jump at least 50 counts. I washed my hands and got out to dine with my friends. Some of my friends knew this routine. So, they encouraged me during my weight loss programme. Sometimes, I jumped after retaining home, which was about 1-2 hours after dinner. It was interesting because I enjoyed it and I did not feel constrained because I was curious to know what the jumping before or after meals would do. I want to say that it was not per say the 200 count per session in the morning, which helped me reduce weight. That only helped me to keep my heart racing, hence being healthy. The jumps before and after meals, where the ones that helped me reduce weight.

My Lessons

I lost weight simply by jumping over a rope, 200 times in a single session. I did only one session per day in the morning before going to school. Yet, I also jumped 50 counts before or after my main meal, which was about 250 per entire day. There were days when I was very happy that I did more than 250 counts. After I had lost weight that was when I began to jump more than 250 counts per day. There were  days  I did 500 jumps, which I split into three sessions (200, 200, & 100), that was one in the morning, another one in the afternoon and the last one in the evening. Towards the end, I decided to find out if I could jump more. I discovered that I could jump 1000 times per day, split into two sessions, that is 500 counts  in the morning and 500 counts in the evening. Yet, I recommend that you to stick to 250 counts because that is what worked for me or if you want up to 500 counts per day. Do not stress yourself because you might stop enjoying your exercise and drop-out.

My Current target in 2012

I want to explore my jumping ability during this weight-loss exercise in 2012. Yesterday and today, I jumped 1000 times per day, which I split into two sessions, one in the morning and the last one in the evening.I hope to increase gradually, but I will stick to 1000 if it begins to hurt because I do not do exercise, which are painful. I just want to explore that possibility whether it is necessary for heavy-duty weight-loss programme. I am loving it and treating myself well during this exploration. If I do well, I drink a glass of juice, homemade from red grapes, strawberries, apples,  lemon, and oranges.

DAY 2: HOMEMADE Slimmers’ Tea

BACKGROUND  TO SLIMMERS’ TEA

Yesterday, I talked about using a homemade slimmers’ drink to lose weight. Today, I talk about combining a homemade slimmers’ tea with a homemade slimmers’ drink to lose weight. This means that you drink the homemade slimmers’ drink in the afternoon and the slimmers’ tea in the evening.

During my slimming days, I learnt how to make what I call the slimmers’ tea , which I drunk mostly in the evenings. It is a very tasty tea, you would love it. I did not personally develop this tea although I modified it. I learnt how to make it from a cousin, who made it often to prevent the asthma attacks. I modified the tea to boost my weight loss, and prevent me from viral infections like influenza, but not HIV/AIDS. It is a perfect tea, mostly in winter. I think that most families make it.

SLIMMERS’ TEA

Ingredients

2 white onions

Half garlic

Half lemon

1 tablespoon of ginger

1 tablespoon of honey (Or 1 teaspoon depending on one’s taste)

Method

  • Wash and chop the white onions and garlic

  • Blend  the chopped onions into a fine paste

  • Put the blended paste  into a pot and add a mug of water
  • Add 1 tablespoon of ginger and stir well, then put the pot to boil for 5 minutes

  • Put 2 tea bags of green tea in a mug and add hot water, then after 2 minutes pour it into the boiling paste, and stir well

  • Let the mixture boil for at least 3 minutes

  • Switch off the stove, leave the pot of the stove, then add 1 tablespoon of honey, and stir well

  • Squeeze lemon juice into the mixture

  • Then sieve the tea and store it into a flask.

Servings

  • From this mixture, you have about 3-4 mugs of tea. 2 mugs are enough per day

Other Foods

I do not make drastic changes in my eating habits. I continue eating chicken, fish, vegetables, cakes,  etc. However, I remove chicken skin and fats, and begin to reduce slowly the quantities eaten per day. The reduction must not be huge. I still fry my food, but I use vegetable oils mostly peanut and sunflower. I do use once in a while olive oil, but I do not make changes, which are costly. The whole idea is to continue enjoying the food despite dieting for weight loss. For example, today, I eat roasted-fried chicken, a piece of cake and hot Milo, and drunk my slimmers’ drink and slimmers’ tea. Tomorrow, I will show you another step to lose weight, which has nothing to do with food.

 

My roasted-fried chicken

1. Remove the skin and fat. It takes less than a minute to work on a chicken breast

2. Add turmeric and ginger, and 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil. The body needs oil, which is good for many things such as hair and skin texture, etc. So, after removing  meat-fats, which are hard to get rid off, you need to replace them with vegetable oils in manageable doses

3. Roast the chicken

4. Fry onions until tender, add roasted chicken and fry for 2 minutes, add chopped tomatoes and fry for 3 minutes until the juice come out of the tomatoes to soften the chicken

5. Eat the roast fried chicken with rice and spaghetti

Sweet course

1. Milo, milk and a piece of chocolate  cake. Again, I want to stress the point that you do not grow fat by eating sweet things, but by failing to boost the metabolism, and by eating more than you can boost the metabolism. Tomorrow, I will show you how to increase your metabolism rate. The slimmers’ drink and tea are great boosters, but I will show you how to combine them with simple exercises.

DAY 1: Homemade Slimmers’ Drink

Background to My Homemade Slimmers’ drink

I have decided to lose  weight in the next 6 months. I gained 4.5 inches around my waist, which I need to get rid off. I have observed my body for years now. I know that I gain weight when I am simply not having enough rest, which affects my metabolism system.  My weight  is often not about food. I have worked long hours on my thesis to catch up, since March 2011. Sometimes, I work also in the wee hours of the morning. I am glad that I met my target. Now, it is time for me to undo this weight damage  (See My Current Pictures ).

*I don’t use the scale to measure my weight. Instead, I used a tape measure to find the circumference around the major body parts. My current circumference is as follows:

  1. Shoulder width=41
  2. Chest=37
  3. Upper waist=32
  4. Actual waist=33
  5. Abdomain =34
  6. Hips=43.2
  7. Lower knee=16.5

I have observed that I lose weight in the ration 1:2. Each time I lose 1 inch around the shoulders, hips and knees, I  lose automatically 2 inches for the rest of my body. The fat around the shoulders, hips and knees are hard to get rid off.

How to make the slimmers’ drink at Home

Ingredients for slimmers’ drink

Ingredients:

3 oranges

1-2 tomatoes

1 carrot

1 handful lettuce/cabbage

1 green tea bag

1 teaspoon cider vinegar

1 teaspoon ginger

1 tablespoon Milo (optional)

Some red grapes or half cup 100% red grape juice or 2 red apples

Method

  • Pour hot water into a mug, add 1 green tea bag, and let it sit for at least 5 mins before using it
  • Wash fruit  and vegetables thoroughly
  • Chop fruit & vegetables,  add ginger & Milo, and blend them into a smooth paste
  • Pour green tea into the smooth paste and blend well

  • Make a juice: Sieve the blended mixture to separate the dregs from the juice. If you have a cheese bag or a  clean kitchen towel, use it to drain the mixture

  • Add 100% red grape juice (half a mug) to the newly made juice, and mix well. You have your slimmers’ drink. NB: Do not use white grapes because they have a sharp taste despite being better than the red ones. If you choose to use white grapes, do not add cider vinegar.
  • You have made 1 litre juice of the slimmers’ drink. Pour it in a container and close the lid tightly. I have used an empty container of red grape juice to store my drink

  • You can add the dregs to the soil in your flower-pot, or you can throw it away

How to slim

Do the following if you want to slim:

  1. Double the ingredient quantities
  2. Remove Milo from the ingredients
  3. Use grapes or apples instead of the 100% red grape juice
  4. If you do not have grapes or apples, increase the amount of tomatoes
  5. When you double the ingredients, you would have 2 litres of the slimmers’ drink. You must drink 1.5 litres between 6 am and 12 pm. Then, drink the rest in the afternoon. In the evening, drink plain water with lemon drops. The  slimmers’ drink is very energetic. You might not sleep on time if you drink it in the evening after 5 pm
  6. Make sure that you sleep between 7 and 8 hours
  7. Consult your doctor

This Drink Works, It Worked for Me

I discovered this concoction on my own in 2004 when I suddenly grew fat. I have used it several times. It has reduced my weight before at least 3 times. The recent weight loss was in 2009. My waist was 42 inches in 2009. I drunk this concoction from June 2009 to April 2010. I observed that in October 2009, within 5 months, my waist reduced from 42 inches to 29 inches (See pictures of my weight loss).

Laugh with me…

A friend came to see me this evening just after I finished having a bath. She was bubbling with joy, but I don’t know what the occasion was all about. She said, “Chipo! I brought you something special, and I know you would love it.” Before I said anything, she brought it out of her handbag, and tossed it towards me. Voila! I saw this creamy chocolate, sprinkled with hazelnuts,  just the way I like it.  By the way, it had ice-cream at the centre with a vanilla-strawberry aroma. Just imagine that! Thank you, I kept saying. Then she said in a strict voice, “Here is your facial remedy!” I wondered whether my face needed treatment. She went on, “This chocolate cures anything.” I was lost in a moment, but she continued lecturing me, “I mean anything. If you are having pimples, you just rub this chocolate  into your palms and apply it evenly onto your face, and wash it off the next morning.” I was very sure that she picked the wrong chocolate because the sugar in the ice-cream would certainly increase the pimples. I know the type of chocolate that some people use for facial treatment, but certainly not the one she brought. Yet, I didn’t care about her lecture because my mind was rolling onto that chocolate. So, while she was talking excitedly about her facial remedy, I curled quietly onto my bed, opened the chocolate, and put it chunk by chunk into the right place.  There it was,  in between my teeth, and above my tongue. I gobbled up that chocolate with my eyes closed, feeling its sweetness and its chill as it gushed down my throat. Suddenly, I got lost in that mouth-happiness.  When I returned to reality, I heard her screaming, “Do you understand? If you want to use chocolate as a facial remedy, you must be very strong.” I found this dialogue hilarious because I think that most people would eat this particular chocolate instead of using it to treat the facial skin. I had a wonderful-hilarious time with my friend.
